Being off the “grid”…
April 29, 2009

is something I have been adjusting to recently.  Having a computer malfunction will do that to you.  Suddenly you get this sense of being disconnected from all that is going on, left out and scrambling to stay relevant.

Thanks be to God!  This has provided an opportunity to consider what is really important (definitely not blogging, email, even facebook).

I have been fortunate to have strong influencers in my life whom have extolled the virtues of fasting and it has been renewed by this “freak” occurrence with a piece of equipment breaking down.  Interesting…

My heart is for others to take time to break free from the bondage of always being connected…to connect with your Creator, God Almighty!

Peace.

Life?
April 16, 2009

Each day society is becoming more hostile to fellow human beings.

From the senseless murders that take place in cities throughout this world (especially here in America), to the hostile attacks waged by those seeking “justice”, to the targeted elimination of those not yet born.  These are just the obvious examples.

Have we grow so callous toward one and other that we continue to look the other way and let this culture of death take root?  How have we allowed society to get away with this to the point it has gotten?

God forgive us for treating the most beautiful part of creation so terribly.

Easter is…
April 11, 2009

about Jesus, not  a bunny…an empty tomb, not a full basket…victory over death, not the start of spring…new life, not a new bonnet…forgiveness, not tulips.

This Easter remember that Jesus knows what it is like:

to be hungry
to be tired
to be lonely
to be hurt
to be hated
to be beaten
to be persecuted
to be misunderstood
to be mistreated
to be mocked and laughed at
to be betrayed by a friend
to be tempted to sin
to be responsible for employees
to feel forsaken
to feel hopeless
to have no spouse
to have no earthly father there to help
to have lost a loved one
to have to pay taxes
to have money stolen from you
to have the responsibility to provide for a family
to live under an oppressive government
to experience extreme pain
(plus so much more)

Jesus loves you — enough to die for you.  He  not only understands what you face, but He is able and willing to help you.

Call out to Him…He always will answer.

What???

Couple of “news” items got my attention today…

Former Prime Minister Tony Blair states that Catholic Church needs to review it’s stance on homosexual relationships.

To abandon clear teaching from the Word of God to appeal to the “masses” is the quickest way to destroy any influence that the Catholic Church may still have.  This represents yet another example of a misguided individual trying to make the message sensitive to people…Jesus NEVER compromised!

And from the showing our true self(ishness) category…

Brown University has decided to stop honoring Columbus (because of his treatment of Native Americans) with a day of remembrance, however they still want the day off, so they are now planning on calling it Fall weekend (or something lame like that).

Ironically, it will still occur when the rest of us observe Columbus Day!!???

Words we use…
April 7, 2009

are so important, yet we continue to misuse or allow them to used in a manner that “cheapens” them.  For example…

The previous post (Just wondering…) will probably be viewed by many as being void of “LOVE”, since we have made that word to reflect the ooey-gooey feeling-based descriptor that it now is.  In reality, true “LOVE” is willing to say the hard things, speak truth where there isn’t any spoken and to risk it all in order to do the right thing.

Or what about “Christian”?  This has become the default word for those looking to describe their beliefs, yet most that do describe themselves this way have some sort of twisted view of what this actually means.  The reality is that anyone proclaiming to be a follower of Christ (“Christian”) must have a commitment to life, first and foremost – since He is the Creator of ALL lives.  More to come on this at a later time.

One of my favorites is “homophobe/homophobic”.  Do those that use this so liberally realize that when broken down this would mean a fear of homosexuals/homosexuality?  I will NEVER be afraid of a homosexual, but am definitely against the unnatural, deviant behavior of same-sex relationships.  So if you are going to label me…use the right words!

There are definitely more, but that should suffice for now.
