What is love?

December 12, 2009 - Leave a Response

Such a critical thing to understand, yet it is likely the most complex and misunderstood principle we will ever attempt to fully grasp.

Ironically it should be (and I believe was intended to be) the simplest concept to living a fulfilled life. Unfortunately it appears as though we have watered down it’s meaning, cheapened what true love really is and created something that we need to earn. True love is given unconditionally, regardless of what we do, or don’t do for that matter.

This time of year is such an incredible opportunity to really understand this!! It is during this season that we first take time to give thanks, followed by the celebration of CHRISTmas when the greatest demonstration of true love came to the earth, in bodily form.

As you prepare for that wonderful day it is my hope that you have a clear understanding of how much God loves you….

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.” (John 3:16–18, NIV)

Clearly we have a choice, which also happens to be the most important decision you will EVER make…

Peace.

Post Thanksgiving…

November 28, 2009 - One Response

Out in the craziness on this “Black Friday” it occurred to me how ironic it is to refer to the day after Thanksgiving in such an appropriate manner. If it wasn’t so sad it would make great comedy…people racing from here to there in pursuit of – “such great deals”, “the perfect gift”, “to get something before they are all gone”, etc.

When did it become so necessary to live our lives in this manner? Seems like too often society has convinced us that you have to shower others with “stuff” in order to win their approval, to be fulfilled and so the masses do whatever it takes to try and accomplish this – BUT the darkness and heaviness that weighs people down is never more obvious than during this time of year.

I believe that this year (and 2010) a shift is going to take place…from materialism and the selfishness that comes with it, to a true sense of contentment (regardlesss of circumstances) and selflessness.

True freedom and deliverance is coming forth to those who desire it! Seek and you will find, ask and you SHALL recieve….

Peace.

These are exciting times…

that also requires caution (wisdom and discernment).

The reason I say that is because even as we see principled-driven election results from this past Tuesday (i.e. Virginia/New Jersey governor races, along with Maine regarding same-sex marriages) and a resounding amount of support to exclude abortions from the House version of the healthcare bill, it is critical that we maintain a clear focus on the “big picture”.

That means we cannot to be deceived into thinking that the battle is won/over. We continue to face attempts to pull us down pathways of compromise and while we experience victories is some areas, there is much more ground to be taken back from those with a humanist view.

My sense of a need to be cautious comes from continually seeing believers focus on a single issue and allowing the overall landscape of society to change in the midst of that…for every stand against abortion comes a homosexual agenda or an expansion of government trying to rule over us or an effort to silence anyone from speaking out about certain issues or even a “war against terror” that ultimately distracts us from advancing God’s Kingdom (sometimes even masked under the guise of being to advance His will).

This past weekend, for me, was filled with a renewed understanding of the battle being waged and how it is crucial for us to stand in “such a time as this”. Words brought forth from Lou Engle (founder of The Call) and Tammy Rittering (Director of the Gateway House of Prayer) about the need to rebuild the wall to hold back this wave of immorality, how we need to become wall builders (like the ones Nehemiah raised up) is a message that the Lord is sending out across this land and throughout the Church.

The key is to become an army of prayer warriors, committed to sacrificially coming against the powers and principalities that are trying to lead this nation and it’s citizens down the path of destruction.

Rise up followers of Christ, devote yourselves to a life of intercessory prayer, fasting and worship – pursuing the Lord with all you have!!!

I am willing to stand, are you?

True Health Care should respect EVERY life…

Don’t be fooled about Abortion in Health Care

What is success?

October 10, 2009 - Leave a Response

Is it attaining a certain status?  Being recognized by your peers?  Put on a pedestal by the “experts”?  Doing good and noble things?  Reaching financial independence?  Being a positive influence?  A great mom, dad, friend?

While they all may have some significance, do these really represent true success?  By looking at this from an eternal perspective we can find what it takes to be truly succesful.

From God’s Word translation…Never stop reciting these teachings. You must think about them night and day so that you will faithfully do everything written in them. Only then will you prosper and succeed.

Now that’s a plan we should all pursue.

Peace.

The quest to be best…

October 1, 2009 - Leave a Response

seems to be a major trait for most (if not all) of us.

With that being the case, I wonder what is the motivating factor for that.

I have become very concerned that we have lost focus of why we should be the best we can and have made this “quest” an unhealthy attempt to acheive some sort of fulfillment of our own desires.

The time is upon us to “check” ourselves and honestly look at why we do what we do, because we will soon have to give an account for it.

I encourage you to get yourself in a position of being able to hear the words…”well done good and faithful servant”.

Peace.

Times are a changin’…

to where now we expect the government to provide everything.

I thought this was a nation of doers, willing to give – but now it’s all about what can you (or in this case, the government) do for me.  What happened to “Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what can I do for my country”?

I am convinced that we as a nation are going to face even more challenging times… until we can break from our selfish pursuit of what is best for me mentality and become more selfless.

Hope I’m wrong….

The middle ground…

is something that doesn’t exist.  As much as people desire to get along, the truth is we are divided as a nation.  The current debate about health care is just another indication of this.

Sadly the words of Jesus, about a house that is divided will not stand, is what comes to mind (for me at least).

Don’t get me wrong I don’t mean to suggest we, as followers of Christ, should compromise.  Rather we should take this opportunity to engage society in the topic(s) at hand in order to lead them to THE answer.  In doing so, we must look to Him as our guide on how this is done…i.e. with compassion and an understanding of how much they are loved.

This to me is honestly the hardest thing, for I always want to be right and prove my point.  He is teaching me to help others see what is right without making them feel shame but instead giving them hope…if that makes sense.   I still need ALOT of help!

Desiring that Jesus be glorified in all I say and do…

“Deployed” into the war…

July 20, 2009 - Leave a Response

is how I now view my life, on a daily basis (actually moment by moment).  While it may not look like what we are accustom to seeing when we talk about war, it is a much more serious, hostile environment and the stakes will never be higher.

The bottom line is that the meaning of life is all about which side you are on.  And make no mistake, the choosing of sides is the most important decision we will EVER make.

So in this “battle” called life which side do you choose?

Good or evil?

True freedom or bondage to this world?

Victory or defeat?

Joy or sorrow?

For me the answer is clear…no more chasing the deceptive promises of this fallen world.  And no more holding back in taking on Satan and his legion of minions.  They have stolen, destroyed and killed enough for me to finally get fully engaged!

I am Willing to Stand

advancing the Kingdom of  THE Lord Jesus Christ!!!

Freedom…

July 5, 2009 - Leave a Response

is such a wonderful thing to have.

As this country celebrates our independence, it is my prayer that we would all understand what true freedom really is.  The liberties we enjoy here in America are great, but as we are seeing they can also be easily taken from us.

I encourage all that view this post to receive the only freedom that is worth pursuing…freedom in Jesus Christ.  The joy that comes with this, along with knowing you no longer are a slave to the things of this world (and thereby truly free to live), is priceless.

The Founding Fathers of America knew this needed to be a foundation in their lives (at least most of them did), along with being a critical starting point for our country to survive and thrive.

Oh, how we have strayed from that mindset…

Praying that America returns to its’ biblical heritage!!
